Following two consecutive clean sheets in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Black Stars coach Otto Addo has named 32-year-old Benjamin Asare as Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The Accra Hearts of Oak shot-stopper impressed on his national team debut, keeping a clean sheet in Ghana’s 5-0 win over Chad on March 21.

He maintained his form in a 3-0 victory against Madagascar, solidifying Ghana’s position at the top of Group I with 15 points.
Otto Addo praised Asare’s performances and highlighted the healthy competition within the squad, acknowledging the efforts of Lawrence Ati-Zigi and Joseph Wollacott in pushing each other to improve.
