Ghanaian football legend Michael Essien has declined to pick a side in the long-standing debate over who is the greatest player of all time between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Speaking to Sporty FM, Essien praised both icons, emphasizing their dominance in football for over 15 years.
“Ronaldo is hardworking, and Messi is exceptional. We should appreciate them rather than compare,” he said.
Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, won the 2022 World Cup, while Ronaldo, with five Ballon d’Or titles, continues to chase the elusive trophy.
